Generating & reading reports

How AI reports are created, where they appear, and who publishes them.

Reports are plain-English performance write-ups, generated by the Brain and grounded in your actual data. They're the easiest way to share "how did we do" without building a deck.

Generating a report

  1. On the Overview, open the Generate report panel.
  2. Choose a report type (monthly performance, paid media, SEO, social, and more - see Report types).
  3. Pick a period.
  4. Generate. The report streams in live as the Brain writes it.

Reports you generate publish immediately - there's no review queue, because it's your account. They appear in your reports list and can be opened, edited or downloaded as a PDF.

Your plan includes a monthly report allowance. If you hit it, you'll see a clear message; usage resets each month. See Usage & limits.

  1. Open the client's management page and use Run analysis (or generate from their dashboard).
  2. Choose a report type and period; the report streams in as it's written.
  3. The report is saved as a draft for your team to review - it is not shown to the client until you publish it.
  4. Review and edit, then publish to make it visible on the client's dashboard (or unpublish to pull it back).

This review step is the key difference from self-serve accounts, where reports auto-publish. You can also schedule reports to generate automatically - see Scheduling reports.

Automatic monthly reports

You don't have to remember to run reports. Every self-serve account gets an automatic monthly performance report: it's generated for you and publishes itself (there's no review step), so you'll always have a fresh wrap-up of the month without lifting a finger.

  • "Next report: <date>" shows on your Today tab, so you always know when the next one is due. It runs early each month and covers the month just gone.
  • When a new one publishes, a "Your latest report is ready" banner appears at the top of your dashboard - click Read it to open it.
  • There's no email notification yet, so that banner (and the next-report date) is how you'll know a report has landed. It's worth a check-in around the start of each month.

You can still generate reports on demand any time, as above. See Scheduling automatic reports.

Self-serve client accounts get an automatic monthly performance report that auto-publishes to the client. For agency-managed clients you stay in control: set each client's cadence and keep the review-and-publish step. See Scheduling automatic reports.

Reading a report

Reports render in clean, formatted Markdown with headings, tables and highlights. From the reports list you can:

  • Open a report full-screen.
  • Download a PDF - a branded, print-ready version opens in a new tab; use your browser's print/save-as-PDF.
  • Edit the content if you want to tweak the wording.

What the report was built on

Every report shows a short line - something like "Built on 12 facts from your business profile, 4 supplied by you or your team" - at the top of the report and again in the PDF header. It makes the Brain's contribution visible: how many facts from your business profile shaped the write-up, and how many of those you or your team handed over directly (notes, documents, answers to the Brain's questions).

The more context the Brain holds, the higher those numbers climb and the more tailored each report gets - so it's a quiet nudge that adding context pays off. It's a count only; you'll never see cost or token figures here. Want to see the facts themselves? They live on the What we know about you page.

Report troubleshooting

It stops part-way, or shows only partial content.

  • Why: reports stream in live, and the connection was interrupted.
  • Fix: generate again.

"Monthly limit reached for Reports..."

  • Why: you've used this month's report allowance.
  • Fix: wait for the monthly reset, or ask your account team to raise your quota. A bring-your-own-key plan lifts this cap.
  • Fix: raise the client's Reports limit on their management page.

A billing or plan notice appears instead of the report.

"...set to use its own Anthropic API key, but no key is configured."

  • Why: you're on a bring-your-own-key plan with no key set, so generation is paused.
  • Fix: add your key under Settings -> AI key. See Bring your own AI key.
