You can connect one CRM per account. Dynamics 365 connects as an app: register an app in Microsoft Entra, give it a client secret, and add it to your Dynamics environment as an Application User with a role that can read contacts, leads and opportunities. Then paste your Environment URL, Directory (tenant) ID, Application (client) ID and client secret. Then click Save & test.

Dynamics 365 specifics

Dynamics 365 connects as an app, not as a person, so it keeps working when staff change. There are three parts, and the connection needs all three:

  • Register the app in the Microsoft Entra admin center -> App registrations -> New registration. Its Overview page shows the Application (client) ID and Directory (tenant) ID - copy both.
  • Create a client secret under Certificates & secrets -> New client secret. Copy the secret's Value straight away (Microsoft only shows it once) - not the Secret ID, which will be rejected.
  • Add the app to your environment in the Power Platform admin center: open your environment -> Settings -> Users + permissions -> Application users -> New app user, pick the app, and give it a security role that can read contacts, leads and opportunities (for example Salesperson). Skipping this is the most common failure: the test says the app signed in but Dynamics would not let it read.
  • The Environment URL is the address in your browser while Dynamics 365 Sales is open, up to .dynamics.com - for example https://yourorg.crm4.dynamics.com.
  • Revenue is read in your environment's base currency, so a business selling in several currencies sees one total.
  • Channels come from the Lead Source on the lead each opportunity was qualified from. An opportunity created without a lead, or a lead with no Lead Source, shows as Other, and the CRM tab's tracking checklist says how many. "Advertisement" is also shown as Other, because it does not say which platform the advert ran on.
