Connecting email platforms
Connect Klaviyo, Mailchimp or GoHighLevel to bring owned-channel performance into the picture.
Connecting your email platform adds your owned channel to the dashboard and to attribution, so email's contribution to revenue shows up alongside paid and organic.

You can connect one email provider per account.
How to connect
Email providers connect by pasting an API key and clicking Save & test (your key is encrypted at rest):
- Klaviyo - create a Private API Key in Klaviyo -> Account -> Settings -> API Keys, with read access to Profiles, Lists, Segments, Campaigns, Flows and Metrics. Paste the key (it starts with
pk_). - Mailchimp - create a key in Account & billing -> Extras -> API keys. Paste it in full, including the datacenter suffix after the dash (e.g.
abc123...-us21) - that suffix tells the platform which datacenter to call. - GoHighLevel email - there's no separate card. Once you've connected GoHighLevel as your CRM, switch on "Also use as email" on the GHL card - the same token covers both.
What it powers
- The Email tab - campaigns sent, open and click rates, revenue (where tracked), subscriber and unsubscribe trends, rolled up across the connected provider.
- Attribution - email opens and clicks feed the funnel, so you see email's real contribution to leads and deals.
- The Brain - campaign performance and owned-channel ROI feed the Brain, and it can reconcile email-reported revenue against your CRM.
- The email performance report - a dedicated write-up of owned-channel results.
When it won't connect
Common email connection errors
"Your [provider] token was rejected. Generate a new token and paste it again."
- Why: the key is wrong, disabled, or from a paused account (a 401).
- Fix: generate a fresh key and paste it again, with no stray spaces.
"Your [provider] token doesn't have the required scopes..."
- Why: the key is missing read permissions (a 403).
- Fix: re-create it with the read scopes listed above for your provider.
"That doesn't look like a Mailchimp API key - it should end in a datacenter suffix like -us21."
- Why (Mailchimp): you pasted the key without its
-usXXsuffix. - Fix: copy the full key including the part after the dash.
You can run up to 10 tests per platform per hour.
Why is my Email tab connected but empty (or showing no revenue)?
A connection can succeed while some data comes back empty - this is by design, not a failure:
- Klaviyo: campaign revenue figures aren't available on every Klaviyo plan tier, and a key missing the Campaigns/Flows read scopes will still connect but show zeros for those sections. Re-check the key's scopes and your Klaviyo plan.
- Mailchimp: per-campaign attributed revenue only appears if you have a connected e-commerce store in Mailchimp. Without one, you'll see engagement metrics (opens, clicks) but no revenue - that's expected.
- GoHighLevel: GHL's marketing-email data varies a lot by location and plan; many locations don't expose email stats via the API, which can leave the Email tab empty even with a working token. Make sure the token's location actually sends marketing emails.
If a provider connected but the whole tab is blank, give the first data pull time to complete, then check back after the next refresh.
